Biazzi hydrogenations - Success in the oil & fats industry

BIAZZI SA, Swiss engineering company, has just received an order for a large hydrogenation unit from Belgian OLEON N.V., one of the three majors on the European oleochemical scene.

After successful tests in the BIAZZI laboratories on specific raw materials, OLEON selected BIAZZI for their new multi-purpose unit for hydrogenation of specialty fatty acids.

The large hydrogenation reactor (over 20m3 useful volume) is fitted with BIAZZI's patented internal heat exchange plates providing with an increased heat transfer capacity as well as the proprietary maintenance-free magnetic driven gassing unit which enables a very high mass-transfer during the gas-liquid reaction.

The hydrogenation plant includes also a heat recovery system used in the pre-heating phase of raw material as well as a steam generation unit for the cooling of final product leading to an optimal energy management of the whole process.

More than 25 years of experience in the hydrogenation field allow BIAZZI to perfectly master the scale-up from laboratory directly to production scale and to provide with full guaranties (plant capacity and product quality) for each of the products tested in small scale.
