FRAUNHOFER INSTITUTE APPLIED POLYMER RESEARCH

BIAZZI SA received an order from Fraunhofer Institute Applied Polymer Research, Golm for a multipurpose magnetically driven gas-liquid reaction plant (0.5 m3 useful volume, 100 bar/ - 25 to +300 °C with a large internal heat exchanger) together with a catalyst filtration unit.

The particularity of this plant is that, thanks to an interchangeable agitation system, it can operate as polymerisation reactor up to 20'000 cP. The unit is part of the newly founded Fraunhofer Pilot Plant Center for Polymer Synthesis on the site of the Value-Park in Schkopau which provides state-of-the-art pilot plant technology for polymer synthesis and processing. The gas-liquid reaction plant opens the door to the development of new applications, particularly the hydrogenation of certain polymers.
